Just a thread dedicated to some common acronyms that may get mentioned in the forum posts.
LS Licensed Surveyor - A professional certification administered by and specific to the state you work in. This certifies a surveyor's qualifications to perform boundary determinations. Not required for most survey work.
LSIT Licensed Surveyor in Training - A test that must be taken prior to the LS test. This is a national test and is mostly math based.
CFedS Certified Federal Surveyor - Similar to the LS test, the CFedS course grants a surveyor the ability to perform boundary work on Federal and Tribal lands.
LSAW Land Surveyors Association of Washington - a professional organization representing over 1500 individuals practicing in the various disciplines of surveying.
NSPS National Society of Professional Surveyors - the national equivalent of LSAW
FIG International Federation of Surveyors - the international group associated with surveyors. The acronym is french, the 'G' stands for 'Geometres'.
...more to come as needed.

Under LS you may also find RLS for registered land surveyor, PLS for professional land surveyor, RPLS for registered professional land surveyor and in Texas there is another acronym for those with a higher level of licensure. It might be LSPS, but I can't remember for sure. Maybe LSLS.
